My weekend in Milan

Capital of fashion, gothic cathedral and Da Vinci. I’m talking about Milan of course. This Italian city has so much to offer. Whether you fancy shopping, history or good cuisine, Milan is the right place to go.

LOCATION

The city is located in the northern part of Italy. As a capital of Lombardy, it is also one of the largest metropolitan areas in the Europe. Don’t worry though, Milan is not that big after all:)! The most affordable way to get there is to take a flight to Milan Bergamo via Ryanair and then bus from the airport to the city centre (10€).

WHAT TO SEE

Duomo di Milano

The most beautiful place in Milan for sure! This gothic cathedral is the second biggest in Europe and had been very important throughout the history of catholic religion. It’s worth a visit inside as well (tickets from 20 euros). I just literally stood in front of it mesmerized for an hour…

TIP: Come early in the morning if you want to take a pic with nobody else on:).

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

GUCCI, DIOR, Louis Vuitton- all the high fashion boutiques under one roof. This place is definitely a MUST-SEE. Just look at that breathtaking architecture with all of the details!

Da Vinci Museum

I honestly had no idea how much this guy changed the world. Mona Lisa isn’t by far the only famous thing he did. Da Vinci discovered the first flying system based on the observation of the various types of insect. How exceptional is that! Probably the smartest man in the history- painter, explorer, scientist, architect and universal genius! (14 € per ticket)

Giardini Indro Montanelli

Parc with a palace, fountain and many Italian seniors relaxing on the sun. This is Milan too! If you want to take a rest, walk a dog or take the kids out, Giardini Indro Montanelli is the perfect place:).

Basilica San Lorenzo Maggiore

,,There is a church close by, let’s go and have a look!” said a friend of mine. We had no idea, it was one of oldest ones in Milan built during the Roman Empire.

LuBar

The perfect brunch spot in the city centre is the 16th century greenhouse. The prettiest romantic bar I’ve ever been to.

Via Palestro

Are you a fan of the House of Gucci movie? It might surprise you that Maurizio Gucci was actually killed here in the 90’s.

Anyway, walking around these historic buildings and sucking in the magical atmosphere is the best way how to explore the city.

SHOPPING

They call it CITY OF FASHION for a reason. Luxurious brands, Italian leather goods, worldwide retailers- Milan has it all. Even PRIMARK! Wishing for a platinum credit card while passing the thousands of pretty shops:). At least, I got myself a gelato:D.

I hope you liked this little travel post. Let me know in the comments below if you’re planning to visit Milan or you’ve already been. Can’t wait to hear from you:)…

LOTS OF LOVE,

L.L
